Newswriters.in is a journalism and media educational website launched by a group of media academicians and professionals in 2012 to create and provide content to media professionals, faculty members, and students with Indian perspectives. As is the demand of the new age, the website is now entering into the field of imparting training.
Taking into consideration the transformation of the media landscape, new skills are required to become a media professional. The course is aimed at imparting skills in niche and emerging areas which are imperative for a New Age Media Professional.
As mentioned in the syllabus, we will have two categories of inputs: Core and Enrichment. Some of the enrichment sessions will be “open sessions” and students from different universities and institutions will be joining. The core inputs sessions will be conducted exclusively for those who have registered for the course.
This platform is not any commercial venture but an educational initiative to strengthen Journalism education in the country and create live linkages between media academics and the industry. This is an open platform for academicians ansd professionals to offer courses in their area of expertise
Two enrichment sessions have been scheduled for 12th and 14th January at 6.00 pm. Resource persons will be Kirti Singh and Sana Samir. You can have a look at their profiles in the brochure. Kirti will speak on “Television Journalism and Anchoring” and Sana on “Social Media and Creative Writing”. We will keep on conducting such sessions from time to time.
I must clarify one point that this platform is not any commercial venture but an educational initiative to strengthen Journalism education in the country and create live linkages between media academics and the industry.
The registration fee is just nominal to meet some running expenses and pay some honorarium to resource persons and technical staff in addition to charges of the online platform that we will be hiring.
The platform has been created by experienced academicians and professionals who are also be tendering their services as resource persons.
There is not much interaction between media academics and the industry in our country. This platform will try to fill these gaps and facilitate live linkages between media education and the industry. We will be conducting a series of such courses in niche and emerging areas in the future.
